Feral Exhibition
Jack Ford

Jack's work aims to capture humanity at its basic form. Painting people who are a large factor in his life; his portraits portray the close and very personal relationship between him and the sitter. The paintings are an investigation into the public and private self; exploring the unique character and personality of his subjects. Whilst aiming to create a conversation between the works and an audience; Jack's keen to keep a sense of ambiguity within the paintings.

Jack’s interested in the voyeuristic aspect of figurative painting. Scrutiny of another person is not socially acceptable unless that person is known intimately or is unaware of the viewer's gaze. For a viewer to be in a position where they can create judgements and interpretations with impunity about the figure in a painting; immediately creates an intimate relationship with the subject.
